Applicant Pool
OTSA operates an Applicant Pool to support schools with recruitment. You can expect to find details from the following groups of people who are looking for posts.
Trainee Teachers - we work with local and national ITT providers to encourage trainee teachers to register their details, particularly in advance of our recruitment fairs.
Early Career Teachers - unfortunately every year some ECTs find themselves in a school that just isn't a good match for them and their best option is to leave before completing induction. We encourage ECTs in this situation to seek a new post, being open with schools about potentially requiring additional support.
Returners - we are regularly contacted by people who are considering returning to teaching. Usually, they are looking for a school experience placement and support to bring them up to date before applying for a permanent post.
Overseas Trained Teachers - applicants for teaching jobs from overseas may register their details meaning that schools can liaise directly with them, rather than going through an agency.
Job Applicants - schools are encouraged to invite job applicants, who were not offered a post, to join the Applicant Pool so that other schools with vacancies may contact them.
Support Staff - teaching assistants, technicians, administrators and other colleagues may register seeking support positions or trainee teacher posts.
The Applicant Pool is accessible free of charge to partner schools who agree to encourage potential candidates to apply to join the pool.
