2010

Schools White Paper ‘The importance of Teaching’ published with the strategy of developing a ‘school-led self-improving system’ through the creation of Teaching School Alliances.

2011

Oxfordshire schools and Oxfordshire County Council meet to consider a Teaching School Alliance Application. At the time no schools meet the designation criteria so an embryonic partnership called ‘Excellence in Education in Oxfordshire’ (EIEIO) is created.

2012

The DfE modify the designation criteria slightly and a meeting is organised by The Cherwell School to consider an application.  The Cherwell School, King Alfred’s Academy and Frank Wise School, supported by the following Strategic Partners: Oxford Brookes University, University of Oxford, University of Reading, Appleton Primary School, Bartholomew School, Cheney School, Chipping Norton School, Dashwood Banbury Academy, Didcot Girls School, Gillotts School, Gosford Hill School, Ladygrove Park Primary School, Lord Williams’s School, Matthew Arnold School, Rush Common School, St Birinus School, St Ebbe’s Primary School, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, The Warriner School, Wallingford School, Watlington Primary School and Windmill Primary School.

2013

Our application is successful and the Oxfordshire Teaching School Alliance (OTSA) begins delivering school-led ITT, Appropriate Body services, CPD and School to School Support in September 2013.

2014

Our application to create a School Centred Initial Teacher Training provider is successful and Oxfordshire Teaching Training is established. Bartholomew School’s application to become a Teaching School is successful and joins OTSA.

2015

The Ace Centre and Grandpont Nursery are designated as Teaching Schools and join OTSA.

2016

Windmill Primary School, Chilton Primary School, Thomas Reade Primary School and Woodstock Primary School are designated as Teaching Schools and join OTSA.

2017

Gillotts School is designated as a Teaching School and joins OTSA.

2018

Blessed George Napier School is designated as a Teaching School and joins OTSA.

2019

Didcot Girls School becomes the twelfth Teaching School in OTSA.

2020

The DfE announce that the Teaching School Alliance programme will be closed and replaced by Teaching School Hubs.

2021 

The Oxfordshire Teaching School Alliance becomes OTSA and continues to operate on a self-funded basis. Following a successful application, Oxfordshire Teaching School Hub begins delivery.

2022

The Oxfordshire Teaching School Hub is delivering the Early Career Framework, and NPQs to over 1,500 teachers in our region.

2023

Oxfordshire Teacher Training SCITT successfully applies for re-designation and achieves its second outstanding Ofsted inspection outcome.

2024

Oxfordshire Teaching School Hub is designated for a further four years. The SCITT expands beyond Oxfordshire, opening new hubs in Berkshire and Wiltshire.
