Financial Arrangements

Payments for delivery roles will usually be made to employing schools, trusts or organisations.

It is for delivery team colleagues and their employers to determine how the income is used and how much individuals may receive, depending on where and when the work occurs.

We suggest the following principles:

  • If the work takes place during the time the school is in session, there should be no additional payment.
  • If a proportion of the work takes place when the school is in session and a proportion not, system leaders should be paid on the same proportional basis.
  • If all the work is carried out during time when the school is not in session, Facilitators should be paid for this time.
  • Any absence from school for Facilitator work should be authorised by the Headteacher, and in the case of the Headteacher the work should be authorised by the governing body.
  • Arrangements for ‘additional payments’ for work completed outside of school should be clearly detailed in the school’s pay policy.
  • Decisions about each additional payment should be formally recorded by the Headteacher and/or governing body and kept on file.
  • The value of any payment for work should be agreed in advance of the work taking place. The terms of such an agreement should be set out in writing and kept on record.
  • Headteachers, teachers and support staff should not be paid twice for the same time worked.

It is the responsibility of delivery team colleagues to agree the arrangements with their employer before beginning any work on behalf of OTSA.
